Meat and animal by-product collection (Bone & Fat)

West Coast Reduction picks up animal by-products from the meat processing industry — bones, fats, offal, blood, hides, and feathers — and renders them to produce high-quality fats, oils, and proteins.

Our computerized truck dispatching system ensures that meat and animal by products are picked up in a reliable and timely manner. A fleet of specially designed trucks and a team of experienced drivers provide unsurpassed service. West Coast Reduction can pick up bone and fat, offal, blood, hides, and feathers year round, regardless of weather or temperature. Our fleet of trucks picks up ruminant and mixed ruminant material from all its service areas in British Columbia including the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Meat and animal by-products which contains Specified Risk Material (SRM), are transferred for further handling and processing to West Coast Reduction's dedicated ruminant facilities.  These dedicated facilities are Alberta Processing Company in Calgary, Southern Alberta Processing Company in Lethbridge, and Saskatoon Processing Company in Saskatoon.

Raw material from retail sources such as supermarkets, butcher shops, and finished products processors, will be deemed SRM removed ruminant material.

Suppliers of exclusively non ruminant raw material, such as poultry and pork processors, will not be affected by the enhanced ruminant feed ban.

All ruminant and mixed ruminant material, including dead stock, emanating from slaughterhouses, feedlots and farms, will be processed as SRM unless a process for separation of SRM at source is approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Suppliers of ruminant and mixed ruminant material intending to separate are required to separate in accordance with the enhanced feed ban regulation.
