The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurately preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees across various divisions in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The role is also responsible for administering benefits for all hourly and salaried employees.
This position reports to the Corporate Controller, and is a full-time, permanent opportunity.
Provide subject matter expertise on payroll administration including federal and provincial labour standards
Process hourly by-weekly payroll for all divisions including required remittances
Responsible for payroll system changes (Ceridian Dayforce HCM) including implementing work process improvements and system testing
Administration of employee benefits and liaising with benefit providers
Responsible for hourly employee payroll records management
Conduct all payroll reporting and payroll reconciliations
Respond to all general payroll and benefit inquiries
Complete all year-end payroll and benefit processes including vacation time rollovers, T4 preparation, pension reporting and other year-end processes
The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum 3 years of experience processing payroll for a multi-province manufacturing or production company
Certified PCP, CPM or equivalent Payroll designation required
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce HCM System or equivalent is preferred
Strong knowledge of commonly used payroll concepts, employment standards across Western Canada provinces, and other compensation practices and procedures
Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
High attention to detail and ability to work well with quantitative data
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality
