Hide Processing Labourer

Based out of our Lethbridge Plant (Hide Division), we have openings for full-time, permanent Labourers to assist with the processing of cattle hides. The role requires heavy lifting of more than 100lbs and involves continuous standing for extended periods of time. Approximate shifts will be Tuesday to Saturdays, 7am to 3:30pm.


  • Receive and unload incoming cattle hides

  • Grade, sort, trim hides

  • Transload material as required while following standard operating procedures for separation of raw material

  • Maintain plant tools and equipment

  • Load and unload hide brining tanks

  • Monitor brine salinity, including adjusting salinity as required

  • Operate all equipment safety and efficiently

  • Perform thorough inspections of plant equipment before commencing work

  • Load outbound hide trucks or trailers using mobile equipment

  • Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor


  • Availability for Tuesday to Saturday shifts from 7am to 3:30pm

  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 100 lbs without assistance on a daily basis, and occasionally greater with assistance

  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily

  • Familiarity with operating a skid steer, forklift or other mobile equipment strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict requirements related to cleanliness and safe operation of raw material handling

  • Adept at taking accurate measurements, handling of analytical, sampling and measurement equipment

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills while interacting with team members

  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, cold weather, odours and exposure to animal by-products

  • Familiarity with the principles of Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a definite asset.
