Based in our Vancouver Plant operations, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles while following instructions and routes from the Fleet Dispatcher or Fleet Superintendent. Driving routes will consist of pick up from raw material bulk processors. The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when interacting with customers. Often viewed as the face of the Company, Drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public.

The position reports directly to the Vancouver Fleet Superintendent and is a full-time, permanent opportunity.


  • Pick up high volumes of raw material from various locations and WCRL customers including meat processors, abattoirs, and packing houses

  • Drive scheduled routes to appointed customer destinations based on instructions from the Fleet Dispatcher and/or Fleet Superintendent

  • Actively monitor raw material being loaded from customers' facilities into WCRL company containers or trailers; swap out containers or trailers when necessary

  • Unload Raw Material loads from trucks and trailers at the Plant as per Company pit unloading procedures

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and spill response kits

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections

  • Report issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance, damaged containers and/or equipment or Customer to the Fleet Maintenance / Dispatcher in a timely manner

  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently

  • Follow safety protocols and other procedures as dictated by WCRL or the customer’s requirements

  • Perform shift work and over time based on company business needs


  • Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract

  • 3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment an asset

  • Strong knowledge of Vancouver Lower Mainland areas preferred

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills

  • Familiarity with operating hydraulic equipment required

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with strong communication skills

  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
