West Coast Reduction provides
raw material pick-up and deadstock
disposal services to farms, feedlots,
slaughterhouses, butcher shops, supermarkets and
restaurants located throughout British Columbia, Alberta
and Saskatchewan.
The company provides containers to
suppliers of
raw materials and regularly empties the
containers. Separate containers are provided for
used cooking oil, fat and bones, blood and
feathers. Care is taken to ensure that separate
containers are provided for ruminant and
non-ruminant
raw materials respectively, and a fleet of
trucks owned and operated by the company picks up
and delivers
raw materials to the company's different
rendering facilities.
The provision of this pick-up and
disposal service is monitored by the CFIA
through its permitting system.
In addition to servicing the
rendering requirements of the aforementioned
participants in the food processing industry,
West Coast Reduction sells
rendered
finished products to customers located in North
America, Central America and Asia. Buyers of these
products include feed mills, pet food manufacturers,
fish feed manufacturers, soap manufacturers and
industrial users of
tallow.
From its hide operation at
Southern Alberta Processing Company, the company
ships hides to dealers in North America, Europe and
Asia.
Through its bulk terminal in Vancouver, the company
offers storage and shipping services to producers of
bulk oils as well as storage, shipping, refining and
blending services to packer renderers who
manufacture their own
tallow. The bulk terminal has a storage capacity
of 83,000 metric tonnes.
The company is capable of meeting and exceeding
regulatory requirements established by the Canadian
Government and implemented by the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA) through its permitting
process.
West Coast Reduction's
facilities operate under
permits issued by the CFIA and the company
possesses the capability, flexibility and diversity
of operating equipment and
facilities to satisfy a range of customized
market requirements. Examples include species
specific feed ingredients and multiple grades of
tallow produced by blending and refining.
